The Opening Story
The third edition brought together established culinary names, emerging chefs and outstanding restaurants from across the United Kingdom.
The nominations for the third annual British Restaurant Awards were announced in April 2019.
The shortlist brought together some of the United Kingdom’s leading restaurants, chefs, hospitality teams and culinary businesses as the awards continued their mission to raise the international profile of British dining.
The awards also gave customers an opportunity to nominate and vote for the restaurants, chefs and culinary experiences they valued most.
The Best New Restaurant shortlist featured an exciting range of new openings, including Opheem in Birmingham, Dante’s in Essex, Avobar in London, Gunpowder in London, Rovi in London, Canto in Manchester, The Florist in Liverpool, Hot Pot Spot in Cardiff and Restaurant Interlude in West Sussex.
The Best Chef shortlist featured Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Nathan Outlaw, Heston Blumenthal, Andi Oliver, Saliha Mahmood Ahmed and several other leading culinary names.
About the Nomination Process
How the 2019 Shortlist Was Created
The British Restaurant Awards provide members of the public with an opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite restaurants, chefs and culinary services throughout the United Kingdom.
From 20 January until 5 April 2019, readers of Chelsea Monthly, The National Post and Brand Weekly, together with members of the World Restaurant Awards Guide, were invited to nominate their favourite restaurants across national, city and regional categories.
The restaurants, chefs and hospitality businesses receiving the strongest nomination support progressed to the official shortlist and public voting stage.
The final winners, as voted for by the public, were announced at the annual British Restaurant Awards ceremony.
