The Opening Story
The second edition brought together leading chefs, acclaimed restaurants and emerging dining concepts from across the United Kingdom.
The nominees for the second annual British Restaurant Awards were announced on 1 May 2018.
Some of the United Kingdom’s leading restaurants and culinary personalities were included on the shortlist as the awards continued their mission to raise the international profile of British restaurants and give customers a voice through public nominations and voting.
The Best New Restaurant category featured exciting launches and emerging dining concepts from across the country, including Lahpet, Chokhi Dhani, Londrino, Sorrel, White Horse Oyster and Seafood Bar, 20 Stories, Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant, Elnecot, Roganic, OSH and Dip in Brilliant.
The Best Chef shortlist included Clare Smyth, Luke Selby, Stephen Harris, Stephen Gomes, Nathan Outlaw, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Heston Blumenthal, Gino D’Acampo, Marcus Wareing, Tom Brown, Tom Kerridge and Sabbir Karim.
About the Nomination Process
How the 2018 Shortlist Was Created
The British Restaurant Awards provide members of the public with an opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite restaurants, chefs and culinary services throughout the United Kingdom.
From 20 January until 23 April 2018, readers of Chelsea Monthly and The National Post, together with members of the World Restaurant Awards Guide, were invited to nominate their favourite restaurants across national, city and regional categories.
The restaurants, chefs and hospitality businesses receiving the strongest nomination support progressed to the official shortlist and public voting stage.
The final winners, as voted for by the public, were announced at the annual British Restaurant Awards ceremony.
